It’s Going Brilliantly Thanks
Thanks to the commitment of all involved from the participants, through to the guys at Lilliput Waste Disposal the project is making excellent progress. The idea was to split our lovely river Freshney into five separate sections and have five pairs of comrades monitor their patch.
A Central Hub
We have developed a central hub in which the Comrades can report back on their progress and also let others know of potential hazards or large items in the river that may need further attention. The relevant authorities or help can then be called upon.
With help from those good eggs at The National Lottery Community Fund each person has been supplied with all the required PPE and litter picking equipment in which to conduct their own picks, and it’s going extremely well with everyone doing their bit to make a difference.
Check out these pics that have been taken by the comrades, their grandchildren, and the Canoe River Cleaner who we get to assist us when we need items taking from the river

We Used A Local Artist…..
After walking the length of our river on several occasions we managed to gather enough photographs to be able to pass to Sarah from The House With The Blue Door who designed this exclusive one off selections of paintings. The booklet features our River Freshney from it’s source at Wellbeck Spring to Sea (the river humber) and was given to all the Comrades as a big thank you for all their efforts. This was given as part of our walk and talk along the River.
