Emergency Contact and Medical Details: Why Accessibility Matters

When you’re out on a walk or participating in activities, safety is our top priority. While our team leaders are trained in basic first aid, having quick access to emergency contact and medical details can make a critical difference if the emergency services need to attend to a casualty. These details help responders act swiftly and provide the right care 🙏💚

The simplest and most effective way to ensure this information is accessible is by displaying it on the lock screen of your mobile phone. This way, even if your phone is locked, team leaders and emergency personnel can view essential information without delay.

How to Set Up Emergency Details on Your Phone 📲

For Apple iPhones (iOS):

  1. Open the Health App and tap on your profile picture (top right).
  2. Select Medical ID and tap Edit.
  3. Add your emergency contact and medical details.
  4. Turn on the option to Show When Locked.
  5. Save your changes.

For Android Phones:

  1. Go to Settings and search for “Emergency Information” (this may vary by model*).
  2. Enter your medical information and emergency contacts.
  3. Ensure the option to show this information on the lock screen is enabled.
  4. *If this method fails to work on your phone, please perform an internet search by typing ‘lock screen medical id’ and the make and model of your phone, ie Galaxy S7

Alternatively, you can add a custom lock screen message with key details:

  • On iPhones, go to Settings > Wallpaper > Choose a New Wallpaper, and edit the image to include text.
  • On Android, go to Settings > Lock Screen > Customize or use a widget that allows text.

By taking a few minutes to set this up, you’re helping our team provide you with the best care possible in an emergency 🚑
